Chapel Peak is owned by the Henri Bourgeois winery in the heart of Sancerre. They have known how to successfully handle Sauvignon Blanc for 10 generations. This knowledge was very useful to them when they bought vines in the Marlborough area in 2000 and with the same variety of grape. Marlborough is famous for its expressive Sauvignon Blancs. Unlike the New Zealand variety, the vines at Chapel Peak are planted closely together in the traditional French way, which results in smaller yields and per vine, allowing for better ripening and a more elegant aroma.
The grapes come from plots of land in the Sancerre area, in the Val de Loire wine region. The vines grow up from limestone and flint floors.
