Gialdi Vini SA was founded in 1953 by Guglielmo Gialdi, whose son Feliciano founded the company. The company is originally active in the wine trade, undergoes a change in 1984,
when Feliciano decides to take over a wine business in the lower Leventina and to start
to start the production of Ticino wines. Thanks to considerable and continuous investments in the wineries in Mendrisio and Bodio are now processing Gialdi Vini into the companies Brivio (since 2001) and Zamberlani (since 2006) also own grapes of about 300 wine growers from the region.
The vineyards are located in the Tre Valli region in the municipalities of Giornico, Biasca and Malvaglia. The soil consists of mostly granite and gneiss, which gives substance to the wine.
100% Merlot
Traditional maceration on the skins for 12-15 days at 2830°C. After the malolactic fermentation, the wine matures for 15-18 months in French oak barriques. Thanks to the frequent moving of the barriques, the Sassi Grossi was produced without it.
